thanks Dude; I hate the Sedonas until I've got the first set with shaved flanques. And I compared them to the Rover and to the BC; in the Crawler-Halle (some dust on the rocks) it's best way for me to go... Did you see my foams at the last scene (downwards with all the crawler weight on the front tires)? I love em... Soft and stiff in one foam... :blerp3:
I saw, I saw :inkoi3: ... new prototype from CrawlerInnovations ?? :jecpa3: 1" wheels ? I gonna give a another try to them... :tadaa3:
Yes 1" SLW's. Give them another try, but shave them and don't forget to wear: it's a big mess, but they perform much better after shaving... regs Dani
Got some new wheels[biggrin]. No US stuff and no homemades; this time "German engineering in 0.8" and 1" (it depends to the different tires and to the all new CI foams): I've changed some steel screws with some made of lighten stuff, the cab is Carbon now too and in the next couple of days the electronic stuff will loose their cases cause they are for nothing then weight... The skid will get a bit shorter and the one and other part will find the way on my mill for loosing some gramms. Just some optimizing of the comp-weight... so stay tuned and keep an eye on my Chaotic XR10 building thread whitch starts the next couple of days... regs Dani
some surprise is guaranted... and I have no idea about the XR10 axles so far.... but Manu has :yes3: :yes3: :yes3:
some news for you, guys. After having built a Chaotic Special XR10 whitch is running pretty well, the time has come to switch the BJ V4.2 to the Chaotic Chassis. I did that yesterday night: with my most heavy tire setup I'm on 4.4 lbs now, thinking to get it somewhere between 4.6 and 4.7 with panels and some add weight on the front axle. here some details: I did a few packs right now; didn't feel bad so far, but some setup work is to do, will make a video and some more details around the setup later on... I'm very happy driving Berg again, it feels like Eastern, Christmas and Birthday together and if I have to make some maintenance at the gear, it takes 3 minutes and everything is done... Regards Dani
And that's much appreciated . But gear maintenance on a Berg it's like national loto, 1 chance on million it will be your go :mdr3: :mdr3: :mdr3:
got some new motors from Eddie, nothing special, some Brood Creep with 10 mm Comm, a bit bigger wires and some goddies from all those Eddie offers; made a short test run yesterday and wasn't definitly not the only one who had a very big smile in his face :mdr3: :mdr3: :mdr3: wow is that crazy :yes3: some pix later on
Yesterday night, Manu (racer_ZH) was visiting me in the Crawler-Halle. He received his all new Y-town crawlers super lightweight Carbon Wheels. I took this chance and: put some of his wheels in my pocket, mounted them on my Chaotic Berg and put em on the scale. The result keeps me smiling: Ready to run with LiPo 1'761 Gramm (3.88 lbs) And my forward bias is still ok; so with my heavier Carbon wheels and with some weigthts on the knuckles, my bias will be more than ok and the weight will be "not bad" too. Dani
Really nice job ! :yes3: really light for a Berg   that's very impressive what's the difference between 2 carbon wheel :!:  so you will have some carbon wheel left ??? :mad3:
some small changes after the comp last weekend: new Alu-Lightweight Spacer (only 1 gramm less, but more sexy[biggrin] ) changed my oil, rear 70, front 45 now, made the whole rig a bit lower... here some actually pix: Medium Setup with non shaved Rovers : 1'993 Gramm with my Boss Claws a bit less for sure... and in lbs: I'm ready now for the ECC, let's have a look how it is going over there... regards Dani
have got some more lightweight stuff; some Titanium screws arrived: so I can replace all the hardware whitch isn't Alu yet. ;-)
Here we go with switching the Chaotic Special to the Chaotic Switch; first of all I changed the steel hardware on my D-Lux Carbon wheels to aluminium one; so I am at 124 gramms per wheel now with the BC: then a small thing I did yesterday night; my test with the battery on axle was ok for the last 150 packs and I had no issues so far. So I made a bit a cleaner, better solution whitch allows me to open my gear case without take off the battery mount first: The assembling of the new Chaotic Switch chassis is quiet easy and done in short time, so here is the prepared chassis with the uppers (Chaotic Titanium) on it: I go ahead with my Alu Spacers again, they fit very well and are allowing me to use shorter screws (= less weight). The weight of the spacers is almost the same as the Chaotic Delrin Spacers ( + 0.8 gramm or so). All the hardware is Aluminium for all the Cab screws and Titanium for all the links/shocks screws. The weight is not bad, with the uppers on it! In my special I used the Secret Agent skid, now Chaotic did very well with the new "screwless" one piece skid. But the Chaotic skid is much shorter than the Agent one and I had all my electronic on this skid. So I used the fantastic lightweigt D-Lux battery mount for Berg to give the electronic a place; placed the BEC on the motor and did all the cables new (and much shorter = less weight). so my chassis is free of any "electro-smog" ;-) and the little weight of the electronics is on the right place and safe. Have to replace the uncased receiver later, the actual position is a bit risky. then putting links and shocks on, everything fitted in the first try and is working very smooth. here some pix of the Chaotic Switch ready to run: my skinz are on the way somewhere between Canada and Switzerland (thanks Michelle for the fast service "thumbsup"), so I made some practice ones just for give the carbon cab a chance to survice the practice and setup session tomorrow. The hight I made the same as I had on the special, a bit less in the front; still using SCX10 Alu shocks all around and Mini-T silvers in front, MRC silvers in rear. At the moment 50W oil all 4 corners, that's to work out tomorrow, but feels not bad after 5, 6 packs... The balance with 160 gramm / 5.64 oz D-Lux knuckleweights is ok for the moment, I'm happy with that. My actual RTR weight with this knuckleweights and the Boss Claws on the D-Lux wheels is at 4.11 lbs / 1'865 gramms: so without knuckleweights around 1'705 gramms / 3.75 lbs. Think that's ok for me, some small diet options are allready here, but I prefer to get some wheeltime with the Chaotic Switch now. Here a last pic in the rocks at the Crawler-Halle: I'll do some practice tomorrow with Manu and his Agent, so I can see very clear, where I have to go with my basic setup. Perhaps we gonna make a short movie then... I just like this chassis right now... Thanks to Nick and Marc from Chaotic Crawlers for this great chassis, all my Team mates for the tipps and helps, Erik D-Lux for the best Crawler Parts you can get, Michelle for the superfast Skinz service, my buddy Manu for all the tipps setting up my rigs and my wife for letting me be in the Crawler-Halle the next 48 hours... You guys are great "thumbsup" Thanks and regards Dani
thanks guys. Fred, not only sexy, she's a little beast! a sexy one :blerp3: ran some more packs yesterday. Basic setup is done so far and what should I say, I'm more than happy with it! Have to go outside for some crawling asap, but on the slippy Crawler-Halle rocks the Switch is doing quiet well. Some more details has been done; I made a new battery mount out of Delrin now, it's more durable than the plexi one an the weight is almost the same. And made some motorguards in 0.8 clear lexan. Same on the servo. here some more pix: and I have a short video footage from all the yesterday setup runs for you; I'm open for any tipps, so enjoy it: regards Dani
